Taking Part in Our Social Care Study

Who are we?

We are The Stop, Collaborate and Listen (SCL) Agency. We are working with Llais, an independent body set up by the Welsh Government to give people a stronger voice in health and social care.

Llais wants to understand people’s real experiences of social care in Wales. We are speaking to people who are using social care services to learn how things are working and what could improve.

What is social care?

Social care means help and support for people who may need extra assistance with daily life. This can include help at home, support for carers, residential care, or services for people with disabilities or health conditions.

Who can take part?

You can take part if:
✅ You currently live in Wales and receive social care support in Wales.
✅ You are happy to share your experiences.

✅ You are over 18 years of age.

Unfortunately, you cannot take part if you are in a crisis and need urgent help. If you are feeling very distressed, please contact 999 or a support service listed at the end of this document.

What will happen if I take part?
  • A researcher from SCL will contact you to arrange a conversation at a time that suits you.

  • The conversation will last about 45 minutes and can take place over the phone or by video call (Zoom).

  • You choose what to talk about. There are no right or wrong answers, and you don’t have to answer anything you don’t want to.

  • We will record the conversation (audio or video if on Zoom) so we can accurately understand your experiences.

Do I have to take part?

No. Taking part is your choice. You can also stop at any time before the research is finalised.

If you decide not to take part, this will not affect any services you receive.

What happens to my information?
  • Your responses will be kept private. We will not share your name or personal details in any reports.

  • The information you give may be used in reports, but anything published will not identify you.

  • We may use quotes, but these will be anonymised- you will not be identifiable.

  • Your personal contact details will be deleted after your interview.

Will anyone else see my information?

The only time we may need to share your information is if you tell us something that suggests you or someone else is at risk of harm. In this case, we would need to pass this on to the right services. This follows Welsh safeguarding laws.

What do I get for taking part?

As a thank you for your time, you will receive a £25 One4All voucher after the interview.

What happens to the study results?
  • The findings will be shared with Llais to help improve social care in Wales.

  • They may also be shared in reports, articles, or conferences.

  • You will not be named in any reports.

How is my data protected?
  • Your information will be stored securely.

  • We follow UK Data Protection Laws.

  • Only the research team will have access to your data.

What if I change my mind?

You can withdraw at any time before the research is finalised. Just tell us, and we will delete your information.

After the final report is written, we will no longer be able to remove your data, as it will not be linked to your name.
