In today's world, businesses have a significant role to play in building a sustainable future. Incorporating sustainable practices into business operations can benefit the environment and create long-term value for companies.
SCL are committed to the Green Growth Pledge. The Green Growth Pledge (Wales) is a voluntary commitment made by businesses in Wales to promote sustainable practices and contribute to a greener economy. The pledge commits businesses to reducing their carbon footprint, promoting sustainable supply chains, and investing in renewable energy and resource efficiency. By signing the pledge, businesses in Wales demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
We’re building the well being goals of the Well Being Future Generations Wales Act (2015) into our everyday business practices. When making business decisions and designing new processes, we ask ourselves questions that relate back to the 7 well-being goals of the act – do our actions contribute towards;
• A prosperous Wales
• A resilient Wales
• A healthier Wales
• A more Equal Wales (we are an accredited Living Wage employer and are
committed to the Welsh Equity Pledge)
• A globally responsible Wales
• A vibrant culture and thriving Welsh language
• Cohesive communities
We feel that the Act algins with our ethos at SCL as it goes beyond environmental considerations and looks at the long term, sustainable well-being of employees, partners and communities.
One of our more unique actions towards minimising our impact on our local environment is our office beehive! Bees play a crucial role in pollinating plants and maintaining the biodiversity of the local area. Bees help pollinate wildflowers, which in turn provide habitat for other insects and animals. By supporting bee populations, businesses can contribute to the overall health of the ecosystem, and, if we’re lucky enough to harvest some honey for the office cups of tea, that’s a wonderful by-product!
